Day 15 - April 22, 2007

Collectivo
The Taxista on the way to the Coba was falling asleep. He was making me nervous, so I had to keep talking to him.

Gran Bahia Principe Coba
I got a late start this morning and decided that since it was going to be mucho calor, that I would hang at the Coba for the day. I have a dinner reservation with Annemarie at El Charro, the Mexican restaurant at the Coba.

When I arrived, I realized that I forgot my necklace, so I went to the Hacienda and bought a new one. We all know how much I need some more jewelry, but I couldn't go without one.

Quiet Pool
I went to the quiet pool and started off in the whirlpool area. Then, I moved to the area where you can lay in the pool only about 2¨deep. It was cool and relaxing and I just read my book. It´s the second in The Traveling Pants series. I read the first one when I went to Hawaii last year.

Jorge walked by and that was embarrassing. I don´t like when people I know see me in my bathing suit.

Main Activity Pool
Before getting ready for dinner, I wandered over the main pool where Bow Wow was conducting more crazy, wild beer drinking contests. The two girls from Illinois participated. One won and the other lost.

Luis
Before dinner I talked to Luis for a little bit in his office. He framed and hung up the map of the world that I gave him. Then, Annemarie called looking for me because we had dinner reservations.

El Charro
I never went to El Charro before and didn´t even know where it was located. It´s right next to the snack bar across from the pool bar at the main pool.

Jorge joined me and Annemarie. He said that I´m very ¨brown.¨ The decor was very nice and the appetizers and desserts are served buffet-style, but you order your main course off the menu.

They served us a Margarita that Annemarie called ¨special¨because it was made with Piña and mint. We all said it tasted like something differente....¨Scope,¨¨Colgate,¨y ¨Crest.¨ Luis joined us after we ordered. The food was very good there. I hear negative comments about it a lot, but I´m not sure why. I liked it a lot.

We had a lot of good conversation and we determined that Jorge is going to be rich some day. He´s so young (32) and he´s done so much. He´s so ambitious and domesticated!

We all followed Luis's lead and got fresh strawberries and vanilla ice cream for dessert. More food babies in the making!

Collectivo
Always an adventure...being that it was 10:00, we weren´t sure if the collectivos would still be running. Annemarie and Jorge waited with me at the highway again. Finally, one was coming, and we flagged it down. As we were hugging goodbye, it took off! We just looked at each other and laughed (I said that I probably didn´t want to be on his collectivo anyhow). Then, another type of bus came. It wasn´t the Ado bus, it was mediano. Mostly everyone was sleeping and it dropped us off at the Ado bus terminal in Playa Del Carmen.

Starbucks
Starbucks was already closed, so I went to McDonald´s to get a coffee because it was a little chilly.

I was carrying two bags, my purse and a hot coffee while wearing a dress and heels. There was a family walking ahead of me and I didn´t know who it was until they were going to the condo. It was David, the condo owner, and his family. They seemed nice, and not what I expected seeing how he has been. I asked them if they could hold the door for me so that I didn´t have to dig out my key till I got upstairs.

Another Cockroach
Of course, the first thing I saw was another cockroach on the kitchen floor and I have very limited Kleenex. So, I used a bunch of coffee filters to pick it up, but I didn´t want to throw it in the garbage because it would crawl back out, so I threw it in the hallway in front of the neighbor´s door. I don´t think anyone is staying there anyhow.

Do you own stock in Starbucks? You single-handedly keep them in business.

No, but I should. Why do you think everyone buys me Starbucks gift cards as presents?

It´s pretty pathetic when you become friends with the people who work there! I know them all at the one in McHenry and of course, Jessica, at the one at work!
