Day 4 - April 11, 2007

They said it stormed last night, but I never heard a thing! It´s very hot today because of the storm and it´s very humid.

Class
Today we played Charades. I liked that better than learning verbs. No one wanted to go first, so I did. We acted out Professiones and I was a Brick Layer (La Albañil) and also a Tour Guide (La Guia de Turistas). We also worked on Expressar Intenciones. I had a good one...¨Yo Quero Taco Bell!¨ I think I´m the class clown (sorry, Robin!...I´ve taken your place).

I blew them away with my homework assignment, but it doesn´t really matter because we are not learning properly.

The air conditioning is broken in this Internet room, so I´m heading out in a few before I smother.

After Class
I walked past 14th (where the school is located) to the Italian Village part of town. I had to stop for some gelato as I was melting. My foot fell asleep, or so I thought. It turns out that my foot tumor is giving me a very hard time. It must be all the walking that I´m doing.

I was going to go to the beach, but it was already late, so I went back to the condo and turned on Spanish T.V. and did my workout.

Dinner
I walked down 10th to find a local place for dinner and came across Doctor Taco. It was a total hole-in-the-wall, but I thought I would try it. It is very small and there were two other people eating in their besides me (a local and a North American). As I was sitting there, guess who showed up?....the family who I sat next to at dinner last night at H.C. Monterrey. What a riot! They were just getting it to go. Then, the American guy approached me and asked me if I was "from Milwaukee." He said he recognized the "accent." Accent!!! LOL He is from California. He sat down and chatted with me for a while while I ate (and sweat poured down my face & body, but that Secret Clinical is still working wonders). He happens to work for Mayan resorts as well. This is just so bizzare! I´m thinking it IS The Law of Attraction!

After Dinner
I headed towards 5th Avenue and my foot gave out on me again (I´m going to try to stay off of it tonight). Since I was near the school, I decided to stop to use the Internet again and Tabatha, Martha and Mary Ann were here. I sent Martha and Mary Ann over to Doctor Taco for dinner as they were looking for an inexpensive place and my whole dinner (3 chicken tacos and a Pepsi Light) cost $5.00 (or $50 pesos). The chicken was fried and not what I expected, but it was good. The whole time I was eating it, I kept hoping that I wouldn´t have an allergic reaction if it was fried with fish because my epi-pen is at the condo.

Back to blogging....Bernardo (Aunt Char, I know you are laughing at that and no!, he´s not the Bernard that I went to Preschool with.) just showed up. He´s a dude from Bavaria. Very nice guy. He invited me to go out with them to a club where the girls get in free and drink free tonight, but the guys have to pay a $35 cover charge. I am going to pass since my foot is not doing too well. This is his first trip out of the country. He´s also staying with a host family.

Bernardo told me that Arturo was his teacher for a couple of days and that they didn´t like him because he couldn´t understand anything. I told him that Arturo was our teacher. Bernardo told us to talk to Gina today. Bernardo said the guy from China was totally lost when Arturo was teaching. Arturo should only be teaching advanced classes. He has been here for months and hasn´t learned English yet either.

Martha and Mary Ann, the girls from Norway, and Bernardo, the guy from Bavaria are blogging too.

It´s still sweltering in this Internet room.

I headed down 5th Avenue towards the condo and ran into the man who runs the cafeteria and tours at the school. He was with his wife and baby daughter. He runs a tour company in Chihuahua, MX.

I´m Not Mrs. Robinson
This little boy, who had to be 12 years old, approached me yesterday. I suppose that he was a ¨Naco.¨He swears that he was ¨20,¨but there is absolutely no way I give him more than 14 years of age. I couldn´t help but laugh out loud. It was truly hysterical. He told me that his brother´s girlfriend is 20 years older than him. He came up to my chest and I´m only 5´3".

P.S. Mandy & Cheryl, does this remind you of Hewitt Identity? LOL
