Some New Words

On my trip to the Gran Bahia Principe Coba, I tried using my Spanish as much as possible. I'm more comfortable using it around other people who don't know how to speak it.

I learned some new words while I was there. I kept hearing the word "todo" and I asked Gerardo what it meant. He said that it means "all." The other word that I learned was the Spanish word for Splenda or sweetener and that is "sucralosa."

Spanish is a Challenge

I never seem to have enough time to practice my Spanish or anyone to practice it with.

I looked at my information again last week because I know that I have upcoming trips to Mexico, but I didn't get very far.

Learning the language is definitely a goal of mine and one that I hope to achieve. I guess I'll just have to keep going to Mexico as often a I can until I pick it up.

National Society of Hispanic MBAs Annual Fundraising Gala

I attended the Gala on September 21 as a representative for Hewitt Associates. Hewitt is one of the sponsors for NSHMBA. Mary Clare Brady attended as well and it was a very nice event.

The Master of Ceremonies was Antonio Mora, News Anchor and Reporter, CBS 2 Chicago.

We met the Publisher of Splendor magazine, Jorge Chino, who sat at our dinner table.

Dialect

I've been using my Spanish whenever I can, but I have a co-worker named Aldo who corrects me frequently. He used to live in Argentina and tries to get me to speak that dialect rather than the Mexican dialect.

I go to Mexico so frequently, and that is the dialect I need to learn and stick with. Trust me, that's hard enough!

Is It Good to Be Back?

Well, not exactly except that I'm glad we missed Hurricane Dean. That's really terrible and I hope that it bypasses the Yucatan. Jamaica and the Dominican Republic got hit pretty hard. I'm keeping my fingers crossed and praying for all of my friends down there.

Our weather hasn't been the greatest either and has been contributing to my migraines again.

Gina called me yesterday to check in and ask if I missed being at Azul Blue. It just makes me want to travel more. I was telling Mandy and Cheryl that I'd love to go somewhere for a year (or a bunch of places). That would be nice.

I finally got caught up with e-mails and organizing my pictures. I also bought some 10 lb. weights to increase my workout. At this rate, I'm going to need it!

Azul Blue...Day 5

We ordered room service, which was funny because we got mini-sized pastries, which we weren't expecting.

The Bell Boy came at 6:00 for our luggage and I filled out the survey and our ride was there! Our driver drove super fast and was scaring me. He got us to the airport in an hour and twenty minutes! Needless to say, we were there way to early for our 11:40 a.m. flight!

I walked around and shopped because I was bored and it's amazing how different the airport looks since I was there in April. They have a Bubba Gump's and a Margaritaville in there now.

They also have an Express Spa and I went to check out the products and ended up getting my food massage! That was a happy ending! :)....except for the person who had to touch my feet!

Our flight time was about 3 hours and Gina's husband, Dan, picked us up. We went to her house to upload our photos and then she drove me home.

Azul Blue...Restaurants

Azul Blue - Day 4

We had to stop blogging suddenly last night because they turned off all of the lights and we had to walk down a huge flight of marble stairs. It was sooo dark actually, I had to sit on my butt until I got halfway down. I told Gina to tell them we were still upstairs, but she said she "couldn't!" We were laughing so hard, I asked her why she "couldn't!"

We attempted to watch "Click" again last night, but it got so weird, so I just went to sleep.

We ate breakfast at The Globe and hung out at the pool today. After lunch someone snagged our double-sized chairs, so we stayed in the private area below the main pool. Then, Freddy alerted us that there were free massages, so we tried those. They were heavenly. I'm wearing my new necklace and bathing suit cover-up that I bought in Tulum last night.

We had our cooking class at 4:00 p.m. in The Globe with Raul. He's from a town near Mexico City, but did his internship in London, so he has an English accent! He taught us how to make those delicious chocolate cakes and he even made us one that we had to eat!

We had to immediately get ready to go to the Gran Bahia Principe to have dinner with Luis, Annemarie and Jorge. On the way there, I discovered that I forgot to put on deodorant, so I had to buy some at the Hacienda. We looked around a little and then we took the shuttle to the Coba. We ate at the new Italian restaurant that used to be the Mexican restaurant. It was very good and of course, we enjoyed our company too. Luis had the Mariachi's sing a song about my eyes.

Food Baby Update
Food Baby has gotten out of control because the food is not served buffet-style and there are so many gourmet options, I just want to try them all. I will have less than 2 months before we go back to the Coba to lose it. I have to work super hard when I get back home. I can't believe how my stomach just grows that quickly! I almost wore a tankini today instead of a bikini. I can't even hold it in (as Ken suggested)!!!

Ésta es la parte peor
Wish we could stay longer. It's always sad to leave. Our pick-up is at 6:30 a.m., so we won't get much sleep.
